Monkey Mind

"We take captive every thought to make it obedient to God."  2 Corinthians 10:5  Capturing my thoughts has always been difficult for me -----"monkey mind" as it has been described by some.  A jumble of thoughts run amok in my head, stealing my joy if I let it.   So, this scripture is perfect to memorize and place in my head.  Usually I can get my peace by simply saying the name of Jesus over and over.  It is soothing and tends to push all thoughts out of my mind that just don't need to be there.

I took this picture one day at the zoo.  I just wonder what this old man is thinking.

Scripture 11 and 12

It's been a crazy couple of weeks.  I'm in the business of retiring and it's taking longer than I thought!  I haven't posted scripture 11 and now it's past time for 12.  So, I'm just going to catch up!
Scripture 11---"You will be delivered by returning and resting your strength will be in quiet confidence." Isaiah 30:15.  As I went back to look at the scripture, I realized I didn't have the last couple of words......"but you would have none of it."  Hmmm.  Guess God is telling me that I have a choice.  I can rest in His strength or I can't.  Simple as that.
So, this morning I'm going to church with Shane, believing that God has a scripture waiting for me.
