Prop me up - Memory scripture #6

This beautiful pear tree was once a small seedling.  It actually was knocked to the ground one cold, icy day when a huge oak tree ladened with ice, split apart and crashed down on it.  My husband and our Presbyterian minister propped it up, and other than a little twist in its trunk, ten years later, it's beautiful and strong.  This is what God's love has done for me. It protects, helps me trust, gives me hope, and always perseveres. I guess that's what God wants me to remember with this memory scripture.  Sometimes he just has to prop me up and let me grow a little more.  And even with that little twist in my trunk, he loves me just the way I am.

Being Watchful

My scripture for March 1, is "Devote yourself to prayer, being watchful and thankful."  Colossians 4:2  The definition for "watchful" is to guard and protect.  Our prayers are so important because they go to the very throne room of God for protection.  We also must be vigilant and wary.  That's just not my nature.  I always try and look for the good in people, not ever imagining that their motives are anything but pure or real.   So, as I go to God for protection, I pray that He will guard my heart and take care of people and situations that are not in His will.  Thank goodness that is not my job.
